Color Throwdown #525.

I have my first submission ever for the Color Throwdown Challenge! This color palette was inspired by an industrial farmhouse interior design photo below. The colors from this photo prompt are brown, black, and white. The stamp set that came to mind to use in this challenge was the Altenew Hennah Elements. I thought nice bold lines and large areas of solid colors would focus more attention on the arrangement and placement shape. I debated having the background white with black heat embossing as opposed to the final version shown above. What do you all think?

I wasn’t so much concerned about the style of the photo–plaids, distressed woods and metals, and the rustic feel. My main goal in completing this card was to dedicate myself to placement. So in other words once I had a layout in mind, I didn’t second guess where anything went. I have a tendency to obsess over where objects embellishments will go on my cards.

What I mean is I’ll pick up pieces and move them until they seem perfect to me. Unfortunately that means I spend more time trying to place my images than actually putting in the work of heat embossing, coloring, etc. So once an element went down on my card base, that was it!

I hope you all enjoy the simplicity of this card. Thanks for reading. I hope to do more of these challenges in the future!

  1. It’s beautiful! I love the color combo and I love your method of placement. I’m going to try that. I also tend to obsess over that. I hope that you win the challenge!!!
