Hi everyone, happy new week! I wanted to share my Color Throwdown submission for this week and share with you all my thought process as I’m learning more about experimenting with color. The palette generated from the inspiration image is rust, purple, white, and grey.
I coupled a Broach stamp from Anthony’s Paper Craft with Altenew’s Vintage Roses. My personal challenge was to include no more than three elements of a certain color. I knew I wanted the broach stamp to be my background accent and the purple to be the focus of my flowers just like the inspiration image.
Here’s what I learned while making this card. The undertones of my inks needed to match in order for this card to not look messy. Unfortunately because the rust color is already warm, I needed to use a warmer grey with a warmer purple. That’s what I love about making cards; smaller canvases and many opportunities to learn from mistakes.
Let me know what you think! I really enjoyed the creative process with this card. I’m also taking an Altenew Academy class and completing the last few days of the The Daily Marker 30 Day Challenge. Doing all of this has been very demanding, but also I’m so glad to be able to do all of this. I’ve learned so much just in the past month!
