Mooka and Dionaea.

Hi everyone, happy hump day! I’ve fallen a bit behind on the Altenew Academy class Zentangle for Cardmakers. But it’s okay it gives me more time to think about my projects. After the third day class I was inspired to do another floral arrangement featuring the Mooka and Dionaea tangles.

I first stamped the Altenew Lotus image with the stems in Versafine Onyx Black and clear heat embossed the outline. I watercolored the image using Brutus Monroe black pigment ink. I like that it’s a concentrated dark cool grey that dilutes very easily for those wonderful petal fades. After coloring these images, I got to tangling.

I experimented with different variations of the tangles. I remember first learning Mooka with these skinny tentacles. But then I added the ball-like Mooka variants just to create more interest in the tangles. I didn’t want to add shading because I felt like it would distract from the flowers. I added a drop shadow to the floral arrangement with Windsor Newton Sepia. The sentiment comes from Altenew Socatoa.

I hope you all enjoyed my variation of the lesson. What’s your favorite tangle so far?
