AECP – All About Layering 2

Hi everyone, welcome back! Today I have my second class project for the Altenew Educator Certification Program. This is my class submission for All About Layering 2. If you have never taken an Altenew Academy class and you’re interested in seeing the format, this class is one of the FREE classes you can take to familiarize yourself with Altenew Academy.

If you follow me on Instagram (@jaycee.gaspar) I’ve posted a video over on my IGTV. I’d love for you to check it out.

There are SO many examples on this follow up to the first All About Layering class. It was nice to get some inspiration for many of the stamp sets that I have owned and loved for many years. The inspiration I drew from for this floral arrangement came partly from the Altenew March 2019 release. I was thinking of a full floral arrangement to cover an entire card front similar in look to the Prettiest Pomander Stamp Set.

Creating white flowers was a challenge I wanted to overcome in this project. I’ve googled a few color palettes of bouquets that had a white/ash element–so I decided to create a project focusing on a white arrangement. In this card I used second and third generation stamping to create soft grey layers. I felt like this helped me get realistic white flowers that didn’t translate as grey. I also didn’t want the leaves to take over the arrangement, so I neglected the filler layer to expose more white on the leaves. In the end I really loved the high contrast of these leaves with the soft white flowers.

Using the (VERY) well loved stamp set Altenew – Peony Bouquet Bundle (ALT) in conjunction with Altenew – Remember This Bundle (ALT) made double-stamping a breeze. These images are easy to line up and I’ve always really admired the results from these floral images.

I partially stamped the sentiment from Altenew – Beautiful Quotes (ALT) in Platinum Crisp Embossing Powder (ALT). In order to assemble the card, I made a draft arrangement on a spare A2 panel. There are times I like to cut apart my die cut pieces for more variety in the shape of the leaves. Once I end up with a complete arrangement, I use the wonderful trick from Jennifer McGuire–Glad® Press’n Seal® to pick up my entire paper piece in order to put glue on the back.

I’m so excited to submit this project to AECP. Using generation stamping to create lighter variations of ink required some patience, but I learned a lot making this project. I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and I hope to share another AECP project next week!
