Enjoy $50 OFF the Watercolor Marker Ultimate Bundle from 9/20/2019 at 12:01 AM EDT until 9/21/2019 at 11:59 PM EDT. No code needed to enjoy this deal! Not valid on previous purchases. While supplies last. Shop HERE (ALT).

I recently purchased the Altenew – Winter Wonderland Watercolor Brush Markers after seeing many people color with the Altenew Watercolor Brush Markers or products similar (ALT). After patiently waiting for the right time, I was lucky enough to snag a deal where the Winter Wonderland set and Altenew – Permanent Black Crisp Dye Ink were in a discounted bundle (ALT). I will use the watercolor brush markers in a future release *wink* but for now, I got the chance to play with the refills that Altenew has released. Below is a video tutorial on making your own liquid watercolor backgrounds that mimic the look of alcohol inks. Alcohol inks are another purchase that is on my list, but for now I wanted to experiment and play with ways to get an alcohol inked background using items you may already have around your home.

There are MANY watercolor effects you can use with liquid watercolor and other additives. YouTube has endless ideas on what to add to your panels–it is where I got this idea after all. Try experimenting and see what other panels you come up with using the Altenew Watercolor Brush Refills!

Which one is your favorite? Let me know in the comments below…and of course here are the pertinent details on how you can enter the fabulous giveaway from Team Altenew!

Giveaway!

To celebrate this release, Altenew is giving away a $30 gift certificate to 6 lucky winners! Please leave a comment on the Altenew Card Blog and/or Altenew Scrapbook Blog by 9/25/2019 for a chance to win.

Team Altenew will also draw a winner to receive a $15 gift certificate from the comments left on each designer’s blog on the blog hop list below. All winners will be announced on the Altenew blogs on 9/27/2019.

    1. Thank you so much for your kind comments! If you have any questions about any of the cards after watching again (as I know I simply described it and didn’t film a full tutorial) please let me know.

  3. You had my attention at “NO WATERCOLOR SKILLS-NONE-YOU’RE SPEAKING MY LANGUAGE!” These are amazing and although everyone created amazing cards for this hop, I think the best were left for last. Thank you! 🙂

    1. LOL! Thank you so much for the lovely comments, Barbara. Altenew fans come in a variety of skill sets, I know that very well. I want to make sure a non-watercolorist can still make something they are proud of and enjoy these watercolor brush refills. I’m glad you stopped by and made it to the very end of the hop! Good luck!

  4. Gorgeous color combo on these beautiful cards!
My favorite? Love the one with the ‘Every small thing…’ sentiment! So beautiful with the vellum flowers and leaves embossed in white layered over the watercolored circle! Perfection!

  5. A great video and great cards. The technique with the alcohol drops looks like something to try – TFS. The smile card is my favourite. I like the way you use black and white in your cards.

  9. Jaycee, I’ve just subscribed to your emails as I am so very impressed with your creativity & attention to detail. I only have three others I subscribe to as I don’t want to be overwhelmed with too many but I look forward to seeing more of your posts. I love your cards & I’m very interested in learning more about Alcohol inks. Thanks so much.

  11. Beautiful cards! Love how you used the backgrounds you created. I have bunch that I will try die cutting. I just got some alcohol inks when I took a class at the expo. I’ve been having fun playing with them and I like how you used the alcohol with the watercolor panels to create the same effect. Thanks for sharing.
