Altenew October 2019 Stamp/Die/Stencil Release Blog Hop + Giveaway + Video

Hey everyone, welcome back! I’m so excited to join Altenew for the October 2019 Stamp/Die/Stencil Release (ALT) and Blog Hop! We are barely getting started with all the inspiration provided by my crafty friends! Thanks so much to my blog hop neighbor, Mindy Eggen for relaying you over to my blog. If you want to relive the amazing inspiration from the team of designers for this release, head back over to the Altenew Card Blog to find the complete blog list.

Aside from watching the multitude of card makers on YouTube, I enjoy watching other creators. For the coordinating video on this release, I watched a video from Jono Dry who uses graphite to create hyperral portraits and his video style is totally my vibe. His illustration was stuck in my head and so I had to bring it into the card making world. Below is my video featuring one of the stamp sets from this release.

As I mentioned in the video, graphite pencils come in super inexpensive sets. If you’re uncomfortable with no outline coloring and have not yet invested in Altenew Artist Markers, this may be a great alternative for you to learn before making the jump (ALT). On the right is the second iteration I made of the same stamp set.

For this card, I did some very simple watercoloring using Payne’s Grey (my favorite color) over white embossing for an embossed resist technique. I framed the scene with a grey circle.

I based this card on geometric fragment digital art using the Altenew – Wanderlust Stamp Set (ALT). I stamped the mountain scene cascading horizontally on my note card, then cut a circle in the center and rotated the circle 180 degrees.

I’m still not over the Altenew – Watercolor Brush Marker Refills, so I made a quick panel to make some string art on (ALT). This was my first attempt at using embroidery floss and sewing on a card this way, and I am shook at how easy it was to make this card.

I wont say too much about this card other than I used Altenew – Delicate Tiles to make an ultra modern background (ALT). Maybe subscribe to my YouTube Channel and you might see something in a few days?

  6. Wow! Love how beautiful and classic looking your flower card looks by creating it with graphite. I have a set from my college days that I will have to get out and start using on cards, thanks for the inspiration! Thanks for sharing your talent with us.

  7. I love your ghost flowers. I haven’t had very much luck with no line coloring yet. I am still a newbie. I think I will try your idea with graphite pencils. I have a few. Thank you for the suggestion.
