Altenew: A Year In Review Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hey everyone, welcome back! We are close to finishing another loop around the Sun. To celebrate, my Altenew friends are having a huge blog hop to reminisce and showcase some of our favorite projects from the past year. If you are following the blog hop order, you should have come from Seeka‘s page. Otherwise, head back over to the Altenew Card Blog for the full list of my Altenew friends participating in this hop. Short story about Seeka–she is one of the first people I talked to on Instagram and has been pivotal in my card making journey. She helped me come up with a few ideas for my first video too. Even though this is not a new release, Altenew is still generous with their customers. So make sure you stick around to the end of this post to find out the details of the giveaway.

A quick recap of my Altenew Story: I joined the Altenew guest design family back in April of this year–so I cannot showcase the entire year. However, I still get just as excited to continue to contribute to the Altenew Video Inspiration Team and other new Altenew releases since then. In addition to the Altenew Video Inspiration Team, I also got accepted to the Altenew Educator Certification Program. Right now I am still working on Level 2 classes but I am so grateful to be able to learn from some of the best from Altenew. Before joining the Altenew design family, I was a loyal customer just like many of you. So to be tied to the brand has been such an honor.

Like I said earlier, my first guest design for Altenew was for their Stamp/Die/Stencil April 2019 Release. This card featuring Altenew – Geometric Landscapes was one of my favorites that I made from the release. It was this card that helped me in my own creative methodology. I turned away from my computer screen for card making tutorials, pins, and posts and started looking elsewhere for inspiration. Consequently, I ended up with the card pictured above. A night scene of the Colorado Rockies–right outside my craft room window.

Toward the end of May 2019, Altenew celebrated 50K Followers on Instagram with an IG Hop. The theme was anything to do with the fabulous Altenew florals that we love. At this point, I do not know how many times I have shared this story so bear with me, please. It was actually a Jennifer McGuire video featuring Marika Rahtu that sparked my interest in card making. Since then, I have been inspired by Marika’s hyper realistic coloring and I have been striving to make it my own.

This project was a fun card I made using the Altenew – It’s for You Stamp and Die Set. This was one of the first times I showcased a patterned paper on a card using the Essentials Rock Collection 6X6 Paper Pad. I decided to make the téléphone Français with a quirky French greeting. One of the reasons I am such a huge fan of Altenew is their international reach. Many of my favorite Altenew designers are outside the US and I think it shows the diversity of the designs globally.

For the final card on my collage is a card I made with Altenew – Lotus and Altenew – Dot Art Stamp Set. This card has an accompanying video over on my YouTube channel about the Golden Ratio in card making. I had so much fun teaching my mathematical approach to card making. To my surprise, many of you enjoyed this video as well. I am thrilled that you all are downloading the Golden Ratio free template and using it on your projects.

  1. I like the splatter and geo use of the first card. Also like the concept of a playing card designed card. Watched the video you included. It’s interesting to learn about the methods and inspiration others turn to.
