We are barely getting started with all the inspiration provided by my crafty friends! Thanks so much to my blog hop neighbor, Emily Midgett for relaying you over to my blog. I have a small line-up of card projects to show you all. As always, all the Altenew materials are linked after a brief description of how I made the card. If there are any specifics you’re loooking for or you feel like I missed something (it happens) please let me know in the comments section of this post. While you’re down there, leaving a comment on this post enters you into the generous giveaway from Altenew!

For my first project, I used the Warm Hugs Stamp Set and created two tags on kraft colored cardstock. Since the majority of the stamp is “negative space,” I used a watermark ink to give me a tone-on-tone impression to let the positive space shine through. I then added some gold gilding flakes to the base of the cotton clusters. I added a ribbon to the top of the tags and dry embossed a background using the On The Plus Side Stencil.

Watercolor Blooms and Watercolor Roses pair beautifully for an infinite variety of bouquets. I kept this mini bloom simple by pairing Watercolor Blooms with Ornamental Bliss. The bouquet wrapper is a platinum embossed piece of vellum, wrapped around to mimic a floral arrangement.

Something about the outline design of the Ornamental Bliss reminded me of Fleur-de-Lis patterned wallpaper. I white heat embossed the Shades of Purple Gradient Cardstock set several times and created a colored blocked gradient from the top to the bottom of my card. I made sure to overlap the die cuts but also partially glued the paper pieces so that they could be curled up–like cascading ruffles on a dress.

This Alpaca Stamp and Die Bundle is so cute, I couldn’t resist adding it to my list of items to showcase for this release. I created a playful monochromatic bright green scene with enamel dots, Spiral Illusion Stencil, and Tropical Forest inks. I die cut two windows from the Nested Circles Die Set and added a dotted line with a sharpie to help draw your eye to the two Alpaca windows.

For my last card, I was quickly inspired by a class taught by Ms. Kathy Racoosin (also on this blog hop). I know these stamped images were supposed to be flowers, but the dahlias reminded me of succulents and I wanted to try and color the stamped images using a cactus palette. Aside from coloring these images with watercolor, I also added pencil details with my Polychromos colored pencils. This card is one layer, so I made sure I used the coordinating mask stencils so I could overlay the stamped outlines as well as the Crystal Frames Stamp to tie the whole arrangement together.

  2. I’m a fan of whitespace or negative space design, so I love your tag card. Your creative bouquet wrap is beautiful! Your Alpaca card is cute and playful, and the yellow is just the right touch. Love your idea with the dahlias….I like the added pencil coloring too.

  3. Your cards are fantastic as always. Love how you used the Ornamental Bliss Stamp. I took Kathy’s
Road Trip class too. So much packed into those lessons I’ll be reviewing it again.

  4. Beautiful cards! All I can say is “WOW” about the Ornamental Bliss card. Fantastic. I love the card with the New Beginnings set. It’s my favorite from this release.

  5. I love your cards! I want to emulate every one, which is particularly amazing because yours is the first use of the Ornamental half-mandala that I like. There’s something about that half-mandala that stresses me, it seems so wrong but your use of it with those overlapping pieces is gorgeous!

  7. Hi! Thanks for sharing your lovely cards. I especially liked the watercolor florals with geometric lines around them. The contrast between the flowing color and the more harsh geometric stamps really caught my eye. I wouldn’t have thought to do that on the same card! Very creative!
