Altenew Paint-A-Flower: Rose Release Blog Hop + Giveaway + Video

Hey everyone, welcome back! I’m so excited to join Altenew for this brand new Paint-a-Flower: Rose Release (ALT) and Blog Hop! Build-a-Flower vs. Paint-a-Flower (ALT). Build-a-Flower subscription is a layering (building) set of stamps that works beautifully with the Altenew Crisp Dye Inks to create dimensional flowers. The subscription service includes the coordinating die cuts to perfectly cut the stamped images. The Paint-a-Flower subscription is a set of outline images ready for your favorite Altenew coloring mediums. The image can be stamped once or multiple times and colored without the fuss of masking. Since there are no coordinating dies, the price point is lower than BAF. I love floral coloring, so the PAF subscription is much more appealing to me.

I made the above card using graphite pencils in 4H and 5B as well as a white charcoal pencil with a very pointy blending stump. Confused about graphite hardness/boldness? I have a video on floral graphite coloring from the October 2019 Stamp/Die/Stencil Release explaining the difference. The only addition I made was the white charcoal pencil to help give a highlight on top of the light grey cardstock for a bright monochromatic and greyscale floral arrangement.

Just in case pencils/graphite is not your thing, the Paint-a-Flower: Rose is also easy to color with your Altenew Artist Markers. The PAF Rose Stamp Set comes with a second larger cluster–I offset the stamp and inked it with Permanent Black Ink to help cradle the sentiment. Then I simply colored the roses and foliage with Altenew Artist Markers and added colored pencil details for diffused depth. I added small dots with a fine tipped black pen to also emphasize depth, much like a tattoo artist will add black shadows to skin before adding color. Finally, I stamped the sentiment and added black splatters with Jet Black Ink Spray to finish off this card.
