Altenew Build-A-Flower: Bellaroma Hybrid Tea Rose Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hey everyone, welcome back! It’s the first of the month, which means I’m so excited to join Altenew for the brand new February 2021 Build-a-Flower: Bellaroma Hybrid Tea Rose (ALT) and Blog Hop! Thanks so much to the legendary LauraJane, for relaying you over to my blog. If you get lost along the way or want to relive the amazing inspiration from the team of designers for this release, head back over to the Altenew Card Blog or keep reading to find the complete blog list.

Build-a-Flower: Bellaroma Hybrid Tea Rose Release

For my Build-a-Flower: Bellaroma Hybrid Tea Rose project, I started at Google. I usually look up the ‘real’ color palette of the flowers as a place to start before crafting. I was captivated by the contrasting petal colors in magenta and yellow. I knew for my card project I would replicate the real petal colors.

I also drew inspiration from a YouTube channel featuring plant time lapses. There were videos of cactus flowers blooming and I was compelled to replicate the movement in my card project. The blooms were against a dark background and immediately showcased the dramatic colors of the cactus flowers.

I hope to have a video soon over on my Perfect Pairings with Jaycee series on the Altenew YouTube channel showing how I get these blended layers to imitate no-outline coloring. I used a stamp positioning tool and an ink blending tool to get blended layers as if this image was watercolored, but it was done with a multitude of Altenew Crisp Dye Inks.

  2. Gorgeous cards–and I do have a rose bush in my yard that makes the most gorgeous roses, just like the one you used on your card. It doesn’t produce many, but they are gorgeous, just like this one. Great job to you and Altenew for this terrific new build a flower set!

  6. The texture on the dark background adds so much contrast to the soft colors of the rose. I once had a Chicago Peace rose which looked just like your roses. Wonderful card.

  7. Gorgeous card. Love the black embossed background which makes the roses stand out. Even with the black this card has a soft and elegant feel to it. Thanks for the inspiration. 🙂
