Artists’ Watercolor Brushes – Round

Many of you are working remotely or working from home–my partner is one of them. I have been wanting to decorate his office/second bedroom while matching other décor within the room. For a long time I was indecisive on how to decorate one of the walls. I made quick use of some of the floral panels within the Watercoloring Book for an aged botanical illustration plates. I felt like it showed a little bit of personality for both of us; something classic but with a hint of distress.
I used the largest #18 brush in the round set to make a quick wash of Espresso Watercolor Brush Marker Refill. I made this wash messy, the more it appeared to have ‘aged’ the better. I made sure to leave a halo of lightness in the center of the watercolor panel so that the outline images could still shine through. Then I added splatters of both Jet Black and Pure White Ink Sprays.
I got a 12 pack of cheap black frames online and framed 9 of the watercolor panels. I found that I could fake some of the scientific genus of some the outline images without having repeating panels which is why I didn’t use all 12 watercolor pages on the wall. The final touch is an embossed label of the scientific genus of the flowers.
Even after using 9 of the watercolor panels, I still have many more watercolor sheets to enjoy and put elsewhere. I’m thinking of painting 3 panels for the remaining black frames and adding them to one of the bathrooms–the joys of new home ownership and decorating. Now I just have to find the time.
