Hey there everyone, I hope you’re staying well. Spellbinders Paper Arts has been gracious over the past few months and I am so fortunate to get my hands on the February 2021 Watercolor Florals by Sushma Hedge Collection of stamps. Below is a watercolor project I made featuring one of the stamp sets in the collection.
Loose Watercolor Arrangement
I went digging in my Spellbinders stash and found this lovely gem of a steel die. The Lanterns Etched Dies Destination China by Lene Lok is one of the first items I bought from Spellbinders. I also don’t share enough that I have the larger Spellbinders Platinum manual die cutting machine and it has held up to *nearly* daily crafting for four years. I have replaced the cutting plates ONCE in its lifetime.
Back to the featured stamp set; I used the Beauty in Bloom by Sushma Hedge Stamp Set to make this loose watercolor card. I started with a gold heat embossed outline on Arches 140lb Cold Pressed Watercolor Paper. I used my personalized watercolor palette with Windsor & Newton and Koi Watercolors to paint the floral images. After coloring the flowers, I used a craft knife to fussy cut the flowers from my watercolor paper.
I used the florals to frame the Lanterns Etched Die. I die cut the lantern from a scrap panel I had from a previous project with gold foil freckles. I also made a quick splatter background with gold metallic watercolor to support the sentiment.
The images were so easy to paint in this loose style of coloring. The sketchy outlines of the florals and supporting foliage make coloring the outlines playful and forgiving. I borrowed this color palette from a blooming tree I saw at Home Depot. I wish I could remember the name, but it was a cherry blossom type tree with blush flowers and bronze leaves.
I really appreciate you stopping by. If you like what you’ve seen from me, please give me a follow over on my Instagram (@jaycee.gaspar) and/or subscribing to my blog and YouTube if you haven’t already.
Also, huge thanks to the Spellbinders Team for sending me this stamp set to play with. I now have three beautiful and modern cards to start my holiday stash!
