Altenew Build-A-Flower: Tree Peony Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Hey everyone, welcome back! It’s the first of the month, which means I’m so excited to join Altenew for the brand new June 2021 Build-a-Flower: Tree Peony (ALT) and Blog Hop! Build-a-Flower: Tree Peony Release

For my Build-a-Flower: Tree Peony project, I started looking for inspiration in my usual spot–Google. I was captivated by the many cultivars and hybrids of peony. There are so many color variants with magnificent bold blooms.

I made my own creamy base mix using brown and grey ink in very light blended layers. Then I added areas of deep wine with one of the final detail layers in the layering floral set. In order to preserve the white flower, I meticulously fussy cut the flower so that there is not a white margin around the flower.

I repeated the ink blended layers for the leaves. I made my own eucalyptus/sage mix and added areas of black for depth. I die cut one the branch image from the well loved Vintage Flowers Coordinating Die Set and added a coordinating sentiment from Paint-a-Flower: Carnations. I finished this card with subtle white splatters.
