Altenew Craft-A-Flower: Peruvian Lily Layering Die Set Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Craft-a-Flower: Peruvian Lily Release

Like any of the build-a-flower/craft-a-flower/paint-a-flower releases from Altenew, I spend quite a bit of time looking at images on Google on the actual flower. Fortunately my local grocery store also carries this flower in a bouquet year-round. What I noticed about the Peruvian Lily (Alstroemeria) was its velvet petals and wonderful color variation in each petal.

Aside from the leaves, I did not use any colored cardstock for the layering images. I started with several panels of white cardstock and dry-layered (no glue) the die cut images to see how they fit together. Once I studied where I could apply color to the white pieces of cardstock, I colored each layer with dye ink and my mini ink blending tool. If I felt like I needed more color in specific areas, I used the detail blending brushes to apply ink. Some of these areas were the tips of the petals or the anthers.

Then finally, I glued all the layers of the flower together. As for the leaves, I had two tones of ‘black’ cardstock. I die cut those layers and neatly arranged them behind the flowers. I finished this card with metallic splatters from the 14 Metallic Watercolor Pan Set and a sentiment from Build-a-Flower: Hellebore.
