Hey everyone, welcome back! It’s the first of the month, which means I’m so excited to join Altenew for the brand new September 2021 Build-a-Flower: Wild Rose (ALT) and Blog Hop! Thanks so much to Verity Biddlecombe for relaying you over to my blog. If you get lost along the way or want to relive the amazing inspiration from the team of designers for this release, head back over to the Altenew Card Blog or keep reading to find the complete blog list.

Build-a-Flower: Wild Rose

I am currently working on another Altenew Academy Project. I drew inspiration from categories in this new class to make this greyscale card. I was thinking of a high contrast bouquet that looked like it could be tattooed.

I applied a light layer and light outline using Warm Grey Mini Cube Set for the flowers. I used the coordinating Altenew Artist Markers (Set B) to add little spotted elements to the flower petals. I omitted the outline for the leaves and used the darker shades to fill and color the Wild Rose leaves.

After die cutting the stamped elements, I arranged my flowers and foliage on top of a black splatter background. I framed the bouquet with the Fine Frames Diamonds Die Set. I used one of the small sentiments to complete this geometric and high contrast floral arrangement.

  1. The grey scale card is unexpected! How beautiful. Before I read how you die cut it and the thin black diamond, I was thinking you drew a disappearing triangle in. So much easier your way!

  4. Beautiful, elegant card. When I’m choosing ink colors I never consider greys — you’ve shown that the result is amazing.

  5. Lovely! This reminds me that once upon a time there was a white wild rose bush on my creek bank. It’ s gone now but I loved its delicate little blooms.
