April 2022 Paint-a-Flower: Gerbera Revolution
Mega ‘Hugs’ Rose-Colored Gerbera Card

The Gerbera jamesonii Mega RevolutionTM is cultivated to a variety of colors. I modeled my Asteraceae after the ruby/rose-colored varieties I found online. I love these larger Paint-A-Flower images. They are perfect for practicing no-outline coloring in all of your Altenew coloring mediums.

Instead of coloring each petal with watercolor, I used alcohol based markers as my chosen medium. This way I did not have to worry about coloring each petal and bleeding between non-dry petals. Also by using alcohol based markers I could keep a consistent color around the flower.
I added colored pencil details with the Woodless Coloring Pencil Set to deepen petal bases. I deepened ray flowers with a deep blue color for an interesting jewel like glow to the flower.

How To Make This Botanical Marker Coloring Card
- On a panel of smooth white A2 cardstock, stamp the outline image twice. I used Masking Paper to separate the outlines prior to coloring. I used Limestone Crisp Dye Ink because it’s light enough to color over but clear enough to see while coloring. This is how I achieve no-outline coloring.
- Color the image with a mix of Altenew Artist Markers and Woodless Coloring Pencils
- Add a mix of Jet Black and Pure White Ink Sprays over the entire Gerbera bouquet.
- Finish the card with a coordinating sentiment. I stamped mine in Permanent Black Crisp Ink.
