Like any of the build-a-flower/craft-a-flower/paint-a-flower releases from Altenew, I spend quite a bit of time looking at images on Google on the actual flower. What I noticed about the Buttercup (Ranunculus bulbosus) was its shiny appearance in the petals and delicate arrangement overall.

I started with a scrap panel of foil flecked cardstock and die cut the base layers. I used the Summer Afternoon family of inks to gently ink blend on this base layer for a hint of bright yellow.

I arranged the layered cardstock according to the layering instructions found on the Altenew die packaging. One of the petal layers overlaps the main flower for dimension. I raised this layer on scrap pieces of black cardstock for added height. Then I die cut pink patterned paper for the supporting foliage included in the die set.

I finished this arrangement with ink blended details on the flower for added texture and to mimic form shadows. I added Frayed Leaf ink splatters as my background. I also used Frayed Leaf cardstock for my sentiment (Paint-a-Flower: Sunflower) and added Frayed Leaf enamel dots from the Green Fields Enamel Dot Set.
