October 2023 Marvelous Monthly Release

Craft-A-Flower: Rhododendron

In my USDA Zone 5b, I have started the fall transition for the first time in my home garden. Although the Rhododendron is not one flowering plant I have in my collection, I got the chance to admire a Cunningham White variety recently. This was the source of inspiration for the flowers.

As for the foliage, I wanted a dreamy white and frosted cluster to add a soft glow to the petals. After coloring the foliage with green ink, I used Cloud White Pigment Ink to frost the leaves.

Build-A-Garden: Blushing Magnolias

Similar to the previous card, I wanted a colder feeling and softer palette with a lot of white space. For the Blushing Magnolias, I left the majority of the petals white with coral inked accents. I used the Woodless Coloring Pencils to carefully add depth and vein details to the petals.

I used a warm grey palette for the leaves and branches and meticulously arranged the die cut flowers. I used the add-on die set for easy arranging. I filled the white space with Pure White and Jet Black Ink Spray splatters.

  2. Jaycee, you wanted frosty and cold, and you achieved it beautifully! [I may be borrowing those frosty leaves!] Who doesn’t need flowers to get through the Winter? Thanks for these…

  3. Jaycee,
Your flowers are exquisite! I envision them outside with that beautiful pink and coral shining through. The cloud white, greys and greens enhance those beautiful petals. 😊🧡

  4. Both cards are beautiful as well as the floral dies. The Rhododendron is my favorite but the Magnolias are a very close second. Thanks for the inspiration Jaycee!
