Altenew Build-A-Flower: Bearded Iris Release Blog Hop + Giveaway

Build-a-Flower: Bearded Iris Release

For my Build-a-Flower: Bearded Iris project, I started looking for inspiration in my usual spot–Google. I was captivated by the color variations of the cultivars. The two cultivars I modeled my flowers after were the ‘Peach Royale’ and ‘Cinnamon Girl.’

I started with the outline images in the stamp set and stamped them in Permanent Black Crisp Ink; a permanent hybrid ink perfect for alcohol markers. After stamping the images I used a mix of Altenew Artist Markers from Set C and D to color the Bearded Iris flowers only.

It was a tedious task to fussy cut the flowers and stem, but I knew the end result would be worth it. By eliminating the white margin around the edges typically left from die cutting, I am able to let the uncolored leaves and stem offset the dramatic blooms. I added black splatters to my plain white cardstock background and added the coordinating Hello sentiment.
