For my Paint-a-Flower card project, I was inspired by murals and wallpaper. I found a lot of images of bright and overexposed flowers against a dark background. I thought these images were perfect to replicate on a card, especially since most of them contained anemone flowers. I struggled to find out how I was going to paint over a black background, but after searching through my Altenew stash, I found the solution. Check out my video below to see how I got these dark and seductive blooms.

What an awesome card! I am in awe of your painting patience, I think if I spent that long painting a card and it came out as nice as this one, there’s NO way I would part with it! 🙂 Thank you for the video.

I knew your entry would be spectacular; I gasped when I saw your card, as the Anemones look so realistic. I could watch you paint all day. I don’t know if you are familiar with the dutch painter, Jan van Huysum; but I would go to the National Gallery of Art and look at his paintings for hours. Your card reminds me of his works. A lot of his paintings had darker backgrounds too, which I loved because the subject just popped.
Your videos are equal to your work. Altenew and you – the dynamic duo.

Wow! You’re an outstanding artist – watching your talent in action was amazing! Thanks for sharing your card, it really catches your attention & draws you right in! The video was super helpful and while I’m not a painter, I still got quite a bit out of your video – like changing the background via markers and then elevating the design further with your simple pop-up of the panel – need to remember that one! Even the way you took the stamp & created a card with high contrast and a more dramatic mood – encourages me to look at my stamps differently. Thanks so much!

Wow! Your talents never cease to amaze me! Thank you so much for a detailed video showing how you watercolored and created this gorgeous card. I especially love how you cut out the center and popped it up with the thin white frame. Just beautiful, Jaycee!

Amazing Jaycee! You really surprised me with this one. I really adore this card and love your water coloring as always but I think my favorite things about this card is the way you colored this technique and your special cutting out the center, I was thinking you had put a cutout border into the card. Love it!
