Craft-a-Flower: Orion Geranium

For my Geranium ‘Orion’ blooms, I wanted stay true to the blue-violet floral color palette. I started with white panels of cardstock. I mixed shades of blues, purples, and hints of pinks from my Altenew Crisp Ink stash to get varying shades of deep blue and purple.

I ink blended and colored each layer individually. This ensured that I left a substantial bright white space in the center of the flower–true to the Geranium flower. For the stamen and pistil dies, I die cut the images from white cardstock. Then I used my Altenew Artist Markers to color fine details into them.

The frame was a last minute mistake addition to my card. I accidentally glued it on a tilt on top of my Woodgrain White cardstock panel. When I tried to rip it off the glue was already dry and I was left with a distressed frame. I thought this complemented the jagged Geranium leaves. I embellished the card with a simple die cut sentiment from Signature Words Die Set, Essential Black & White Enamel Dots, and metallic watercolor splatters.
