Nyctinasty Hibiscus

Some plants follow a circadian rhythm. This means their foliage or blooms close and open to dark and day light, respectively. I contrasted the day and night cycles of the hibiscus in this card using Linear Life: Tropical Garden Stamp/Die/Hot Foil Bundle.

How to Make This Card

1. Start with a debossed black panel using Dotted Starburst Debossing Cover Die. Glue to a folded note card base
2. Hot foil the flower images using Linear Life: Tropical Garden with blush/rose gold foil.
3. Hot foil the ‘negative’ foil impression using a Solid Foil Plate. Mine is from Pinkfresh Studio.
4. Die cut the positive and negative foil impressions using the coordinating Linear Life: Tropical Garden Die Set.
5. Stamp the flower center layers with Grapevine Crisp Dye Ink.
6. Gradient stamp a sentiment banner with Summer Afternoon Mini Ink Cubes.

I have a very basic Monstera deliciosa in my indoor jungle. She is my easiest plant in my collection and due to her size, I keep her as a statement piece in one of the corners in my loft. There, she gets ample indirect bright light and is an independent beauty. She is my inspiration for this simple yet bold card using the Monsteras and Quotes Stamp and Die Bundle.

How to Make This Card

1. On a green cardstock panel, deboss the paper with Dotted Scales Debossing Cover Die. Glue onto a folded note card base.
2. White heat emboss the Monsteras and Quotes Stamp Set monstera images onto white cardstock.
3. Using a Mini Blending Brush and Green Fields Ink, blend a gradient of green ink on top of the white heat embossed outlines.
4. Die cut the ink blended monstera images.
5. Gradient stamp a sentiment using Green Fields Mini Ink Cubes and make a sentiment banner.
6. Arrange the images around the sentiment banner. Use Instant Dimension Foam Tape to raise some elements.
7. Embellish with Tropical Forest Enamel Dots.
