Craft-a-Flower: Magnolia
Create a stunning, photo-realistic magnolia with this multi-layered die set! The flower comprises four layers for the petals and two layers for the center. The three leaf layers can be used in various combinations for different looks.
With this die set, you can create a gorgeous floral bloom with nothing more than paper and your die cut machine! Watch as the separate elements perfectly fit together to compose a blooming magnolia flower. It’s just like making a puzzle!
This die set contains 10 dies.
How to Make this Rustic Magnolia Card
I modeled my Magnolias after the Chinese magnolia (Magnolia × soulangeana). I kept the majority of the flower white and used varying shades of fuchsia to add depth to the petals and die cut layers.
For the foliage, I wanted to preserve the shiny green leaves and the copper undersides. I used a scrap panel of watercolor brush marker gradients to act as my die cut layers for the leaves.
I kept my background simple with the Woodgrain Bark cardstock and white splatters. I die cut a very simple sentiment to finish the card.
How To Make This Die Cut Card
- On an A2 Panel of Woodgrain Bark Cardstock, add white splatters with Pure White Ink Spray. Set aside to dry.
- Die cut all the layers of the Saucer Magnolia Craft-A-Flower: Magnolia from white cardstock.
- Following the layering guide, ink blend light layers of Rose Petal with the darkest color on the base layer. Concentrate the color in the center of the flower.
- Assemble the flower following the layering guide on the packaging trifold.
- Repeat with the center of the flower. I used Altenew Artist Markers to color small panels of white cardstock for the flower center.
- Create a deep green to copper gradient on watercolor cardstock and Autumn Festival Watercolor Brush Markers.
- Die cut the leaf layers from the green gradient wash.
- Assemble the flowers on top of the Woodgrain Bark Cardstock. Finish with a sentiment from Signature Words Die Set.
